Startup Weekend: Education St. Louis Next Week

When: March 6-8

Where: 4240 Duncan Ave St. Louis (The CIC)

What: St. Louis educators and entrepreneurs will collaborate to create new ideas to improve education.

Startup Weekend Education St. Louis is the region’s first Startup Weekend focused on the unique opportunity to turn ideas on improving the education system into reality by creating a real, viable startup in just 54 hours. This inaugural event, by UP Global, will be at the Cambridge Innovation Center St. Louis from Friday, March 6 to Sunday, March 8.

As part of the St. Louis Startup Weekend family, Startup Weekend Education gives local individuals and education innovators the opportunity to pitch his or her ideas to a diverse group of teachers, designers, web developers, parents and students; to form teams to collaborate and develop ideas even further; to present the final product to leaders in the St. Louis education community; and the support to potentially bring these ideas to life. Many participants take part just for the experience. Still, several startups have resulted from Startup Weekend Education, such as MathChat, Fantasy GeoPolitics and Kidfit Academy.

“As the education startup scene builds momentum, Startup Weekend Education provides the perfect venue for dabblers and edupreneurs alike to join the movement.” Bijal Desai-Ramirez, Executive Director of Education Innovation UMSL, said.

All who are passionate about education or have an entrepreneurial drive are invited to participate in Startup Weekend Education and pitch their ideas. Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are available at StartupSTL.org.
