Geek Swagger: The I’m Watch Moves Mobile to Your Wrist

Mobile may have a new meaning in the near future. The I’m Watch is built by the Italian technology company I’m and claims to be the first real “Smartwatch” on the market. This January at the International CES Conference in Las Vegas I will be putting this claim to the test, but until then here’s a short overview of the product in anticipation of its US release. I can’t pretend I’m not pumped to review this Android-power “Smartwatch” in a few short weeks. There are a few interesting aspects of the watch that I’m having trouble wrapping my head around. One of the biggest problems that I have yet to fully understand is the texting and calling functionality of the watch. According to the press kit you can “receive text messages with preview,” however nothing is mentioned about being able to reply or view the text in full.

I’m may be taking the “extension” approach to the I’m Watch. The watch may serve as an extension of your smartphone device, and may also be limited in functionality when compared to your phone. Either way, this device will definitely raise some eyebrows at the International CES conference where it will be making its debut to the US market for the first time.
