Phoenix-based Kryterion, a global test development and delivery company, has been selected by the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Image Technologists (ARMRIT) to modernize how MRI professionals get certified.
The partnership, announced July 7, kicks off this month with a hybrid testing model that gives ARMRIT candidates the choice between in-person test centers and online proctored exams – a shift from the registry’s more traditional delivery methods.
Kryterion says future phases will bring expanded psychometric services and additional testing options as the collaboration matures.
ARMRIT has certified MRI technologists for more than three decades and is the only registry in the U.S. focused solely on MRI rather than folding it onto broader radiologic technology credentials. The organization, based in Florida, counts more than 4,400 members across the U.S. and countries including Canada, England, South Korea, and several in the Middle East.
“As demand for qualified MRI Specialists continues to grow, we recognized the need for a more flexible and candidate-friendly testing experience,” said James F. Coffin, ARMRIT’s president and executive director.
“Partnering with Kryterion allows us to expand access and scale globally while preserving the security, integrity, and credibility that have defined our certifications for 35 years,” he added.
Kryterion, founded in 2001 and part of the Drake International group, runs its testing through its Webassessor platform and has built its business on secure, high-stakes exam delivery for credentialing bodies.
Dennis Diligent, the company’s VP of sales, said the ARMRIT partnership reflects Kryterion’s broader push to support healthcare organizations “that uphold the highest standards in professional credentialing.”
“ARMRIT’s commitment to advancing MRI excellence aligns perfectly with our mission to deliver secure, accessible certification programs that help professionals demonstrate their skills and advance their careers.”
The deal is also a reminder that the infrastructure behind professional licensing, often invisible to the industries it serves, is quietly modernizing, with test-security vendors like Kryterion positioning themselves as the backbone for credentialing across healthcare, IT and beyond.
